Telsalda was one of a number of Hong Kong companies producing lovely plastic boats. A lot of the designs were copies of Triang/Scalex boats. For example , the Tug Hercules is similar to the Scalex Dawn. The Angus Drifter is similar to the Penguin Drifter. Lovely colourful boats.
Telsalda Hercules Tug Boat B5047
Telsalda Hercules clockwork tug.
Surprisingly rare to find today. This is a lovely example with the deck fittings not even having been removed from the bag. The Hercules was a copy of the Scalex Dawn Tug.
Although the Hercules was not made to the same standard as the Scalex , it exudes a lovely charm as a colourful simple boat for playing with at the sea side.
Telsalda RAF Power Launch
RAF Power Launch . Another Empire made product that is a close copy of a English made item. In this case the Tri-ang Air Sea Rescue Tender ; catalogue 417S. As usual the copy is smaller and made to a generally lower standard. Has a removable deck , which aids maintenance of the motor.
Telsalda Lifeboat 20867
Telsalda lifeboat, clockwork powered. On this variant , the deck is held on with three screws. This is good because access can be gained to the clockwork motor for maintenance. Also , as most of these cheaper Empire made toys weren't made with longevity in mind , they usually are suppled either unlubricated , or very small amount of lubricant present. A little light lubricating oil goes a long way to making these little clockwork boats run a lot smoother.
